As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, employers are seeking screening solutions to check employees for symptoms before they return to work each day. Now there’s a new offering from a virtual medical testing company in Troy.
The free app-based surveying tool allows companies to conduct safe, contact-free collection of COVID-19 information by employees or visitors and monitor potential virus risks.
Troy-based PDANS Inc. has launched Test Alerts, which is scalable for use by any size business. Visitors or employees initiate and complete a survey by first scanning a QR code or entering a six-digit PIN in a web-based app on their phones. The app then generates a questionnaire that can be answered digitally at home or in the car before entering the workplace.
At the end of the process, users receive either a green check and “ok to enter” notification or a red flag and a “do not enter” notification. When a survey ends in a red flag, an alert is immediately sent by email to the employer’s list of alert recipients.
“We developed this contact-free survey to assist businesses in their effort to ensure the safe return of their employees to the workplace while complying with Governor Whitmer’s Executive Order 2020-97,” says Roy Johnson, president of PDANS.
“The survey is user friendly and takes less than ten seconds to complete. Business are provided a secure, daily record of each employee’s results. This program is free to the subscriber. The program can be customized for the employer upon request.”
Upon arrival, a respondent can show his or her green check, which includes the date, to enter the building.
Employers can access daily logs and survey reports including daily checklists, visitor lists, and aggregated totals by location or entrance.

PDANS was founded in 2018 and offers notification services to testing agencies for Michigan courts.
