Saf-Gard Safety Shoe Co. of Greensboro, N.C. has acquired Redford Township-based Michigan Industrial Shoe and its affiliate Great Lakes Industrial Shoe from owners Mike and Lisa Girolami.

Michigan industrial Show and Great Lakes Industrial Shoe have served Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio customers for nearly six decades, carrying the same brands of industrial foot ware as Saf-Gard, which is why the acquisition was a natural fit for the North Carolina-based retailer.

“We are excited to have Mike’s dedicated team join Saf-Gard, and look forward to providing expert service to all the customers MIS and GLIS have served for nearly 60 years in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio,” says Pat Kubis, president and CEO of Saf-Gard.

“We feel strongly that the sale provides the best, long-term growth path for both Michigan Industrial Shoe and Great Lakes Industrial Shoe,” says Mike Girolami, president and CEO of MIG and GLIS. “Lisa and I know that this change comes as a big surprise to everyone. We made this difficult decision after much thought and soul searching, due to its lasting positive effect on both MIS and GLIS.”
