Howard & Howard, a full-service law firm based in Royal Oak, has formed an alternative dispute resolution practice group to assist parties in resolving disputes out of court.

“ADR is a steadily expanding area of the law which we’ve embraced for a long time,” says Mark A. Davis, president and CEO of Howard & Howard. “Having a formal ADR practice group enables us to better focus our considerable resources on the needs of parties who want alternatives to the courts.”

According to research conducted by Fairway Resolution, more than 80 percent of Fortune 1000 companies are likely to use arbitration or mediation to resolve future disputes with customers, employees, or vendors. That same percentage also reported that ADR was a “more satisfactory process.”

The firm’s new practice will be led by attorneys Jim Kohl, Brian Pezzillo, Brad Rayle, and Jay Young. All have experience in mediation, arbitration, and other types of alternative dispute resolution. Acting as neutral mediators and arbitrators, they will help parties with disputes relating to complex business situations, construction, employment, franchising, fraud, personal injury, trade secrets, and trade practices.

Celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2019, Howard & Howard is a full-service law firm with a national and international practice, providing legal services to businesses and business owners. With more than 160 attorneys, the firm has offices in Royal Oak, Ann Arbor, Chicago and Peoria, Ill., Las Vegas, and Los Angeles.
