Rock, the Gilbert family office, and Bedrock, have announced a partnership with 7OH2 Hospitality and its founder Josh Lang as the co-creator and operator of two new food and beverage destinations in downtown Detroit.
Detroit-based 7OH2 Hospitality will operate Gilly’s Clubhouse and Rooftop, a multi-faceted dining and elevated sports and entertainment venue that celebrates the life, spirit, and vision of Dan and Jennifer’s Gilbert’s late son, Nick, who developed the initial concept and design for the project.
The group also will unveil a second venue in early 2024, introducing Detroit to a first-of-its-kind sensory-driven food and dining experience.
Both Gilly’s Clubhouse and Rooftop and the yet to-be-announced venue will be housed in the historic Kay Baum Building (former womenswear store) at 1550 Woodward Ave., just south of the Broderick Tower and a short walk from downtown Detroit’s sports venues, retail, and transit options.
Built in 1965, the one-story structure will offer 9,500 square feet of space — 4,000 square feet on the main floor and the rest encompassing a future rooftop patio and sidewalk seating.
“Some of the most memorable moments we have in life are centered around food, drinks, sports, and entertainment,” says Josh Lang, founder of 7OH2 Hospitality. “I am especially grateful to have the opportunity to create an elevated experience for the city of Detroit, and for all who visit, in honor of Nick Gilbert. That is what excites me the most about these projects.”
Slated to open by next summer, Bedrock, in conjunction with 7OH2 Hospitality, will oversee development and construction of both concepts.
