Rise of the Rest Investment Competition Coming to Ann Arbor

Investor Steve Case, co-founder of AOL and chairman of Washington, D.C.-based capital investment firm Revolution, today announced his sixth Rise of the Rest startup road tour will travel to Ann Arbor on Oct. 11.

The tour will include a $100,000 local pitch competition, an ecosystem crawl, a fireside chat, and an evening celebration for startup champions and community leaders.

Rise of the Rest begins in Pennsylvania, where Case will travel to Harrisburg, Lancaster, and York, followed by Ann Arbor, Indianapolis, Columbus, and a final stop in Green Bay. In each city, eight companies will be selected to compete on stage for the chance to win a $100,000 investment from Case.

The Rise of the Rest initiative, which partners with Google for Entrepreneurs, Salesforce for Startups, Village Capital, Startup Grind, Tech.co, The Economic Innovation Group, Engine, Startup Champion’s Network, and Verge, is a nationwide effort to showcase entrepreneurs and early-stage companies across the U.S. Through the program, Case has personally invested more than $4 million in businesses in 26 U.S. cities.
