Report: Michigan Small Business Owners Challenged to Find Qualified Workers

1211

The latest Michigan Future Business Index (MFBI) data was announced today, indicating that finding qualified employers continues to be the top challenge for Michigan’s small- and medium-sized business leaders.

Overall, many business owners reported continued strength in sales and profits bolstered by an improving economy, as well as in-demand products and services and a renewed hope for regulatory reform.

The semi-annual MFBI has been commissioned by Accident Fund Insurance Co. of American and the Michigan Business Network since 2006, and is conducted by Michigan-based market research firm ROI Insight. A total of 400 Michigan business executives from companies with 500 or fewer employees were interviewed in November by phone and online.

“Despite the challenges, the reasons for optimism are clear: business is growing and jobs are relatively abundant,” says Al Gileczek, president of Accident Fund Insurance Co. of America. “At Accident Fund, we have seen the same positive business climate with our customers around the state.”
