Red Dunn Kitchen today announced its new restaurant in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood will begin breakfast service adjacent to the Trumbull and Porter hotel this Thursday, with lunch and dinner service expected to roll out later this month.

The 150-seat indoor and outdoor restaurant will feature a full-service bar and a contemporary American menu managed by executive chef Jay Gundy.

A Detroit native, Gundy has worked at other popular Detroit restaurants including Figgleheads, The Whitney, Café Via, and Townhouse Birmingham. Gundy’s menus incorporate natural, locally sourced ingredients and innovated recipes.

“Our seasonal American menu is reminiscent of tried and true classic French technique with an innovative, modern style,” says Gundy. “At this point in my career, it’s a dream come true to be part of Corktown’s resurgence and Detroit’s culinary scene.”

Daytime menu favorites will include three variations of eggs benedict, with vegan options available by request. Dinner guests can expect dishes such as house-made artichoke agnolotti, blow torched yellow fin tuna crudo, and the Red Dunn burger. Signature desserts and pastries include fresh fried doughnuts with Dewars butterscotch glaze.

The full-service bar will feature Detroit spirits, wine, and craft beer, and the courtyard and outdoor pump room will host local musicians, weather permitting.

Red Dunn Kitchen will also feature limited seating at Gundy’s Chef’s Table dinners in the restaurant’s private Steak Room, where he will prepare a specialty menu and be on hand to visit with guests.

Dustin Walker will manage Red Dunn Kitchen after working as the beverage manager of Forte Restaurant and Townhouse in Birmingham, and most recently, as a manager and bartender for AFB Hospitality, which operates Bistro 82, The Morrie, and SCL Nightclub. Red Dunn Kitchen and the Trumbull and Porter hotel are managed by the principals of global hospitality firm Access Hotels and Resorts.

“We set out to create modern comfort and style in each of the hotel rooms, meeting spaces, and dining areas, while maintaining the urban and gritty style of Detroit,” says Barry Caplan, managing principal for Access Hotels and Resorts. “Corktown has a great energy and we are excited to provide this unique venue for our guests, as they enjoy the city’s great new revival.”

Red Dunn Kitchen is located at 1331 Trumbull St., and reservations can be made by calling 313-877-9477.
