Realcomp II Ltd. in Farmington Hills, Michigan’s largest Multiple Listing Service (MLS), is introducing the ability to perform voice-activated searches on active Realcomp listings via Alexa following an agreement with California-based Lundy Inc.

With the new technology, users are able to speak their property “wish lists” into their Alexa devices, in natural language, by saying “Alexa, launch or start finding homes.” They can speak their wants and needs into the app regarding desired area, price range, bedrooms, and baths and/or communicate desired scenarios, according to Reamcomp.

A user could say, “I’m looking for a home, all on one level, with unimpeded walkways since my father, who lives with us, uses a walker” or “I love to cook and need a gourmet kitchen so I can host wonderful family meals.” Alexa will then find suitable listings and return their property details. Alexa devices with screens will display the property matches with their photos, says Realcomp.

Originally developed for the vision impaired, Lundy’s voice technology communicates all the information that any buyer needs to know about a home, pulling this information directly from the MLS.

“This technology is intuitive, high-tech, and readily accessible for all,” says Karen Kage, CEO of Realcomp II Ltd. “Realcomp subscribers, their clients, and consumers across the board will benefit from its ease of use and comprehensive reach.”

“In just eight months, we’ve witnessed remarkable advancements in this technology, from its initial introduction to us to now being launched” says Michael S. Young, president of Realcomp. “It’s truly thrilling to lead the way in bringing this innovation to our subscribers, their clients, and consumers everywhere.”

Justin Lundy, CEO of Lundy, says, “We knew there was a need for a natural and instinctive way to communicate comprehensive listings to agents and consumers. With Alexa, we have built an informational hub that accomplishes exactly that and our goal of producing the most comprehensive property search engine available by voice. It is poised to be the preferred medium for real estate discovery.”

Alexa is Amazon’s cloud-based voice service available on more than 100 million devices nationwide from Amazon and third-party device manufacturers.  A quarter of U.S. households have at least one Alexa device, according to Amazon.

The service is now available to anyone with access to an Alexa device.
