The Ram brand of Stellantis in Auburn Hills has unveiled its new 2025 fleet of heavy-duty trucks, which it says offers a “combination of exceptional comfort, innovation, technology and capability.”
The fleet includes the 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty pickups and the 4500 and 5500 Chassis Cabs.
The 2025 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty pickups offer customers two engine options — the new 6.7-liter Cummins High-Output Turbo Diesel engine and the standard 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine. The new Cummins Turbo Diesel engine and TorqueFlite HD eight-speed transmission upgrades enable 36,610 pounds of towing capability with a more fuel-efficient 3.42 rear axle ratio. Max towing was previously available only with a 4.10 axle ratio.
“More than 70 percent of Ram heavy-duty customers opt for the diesel, and for 2025 we built on that demand and long-lasting durability with an improved Cummins engine coupled with a new eight-speed transmission,” says Tim Kuniskis, CEO of the Ram brand.
“This is a very specific pickup segment that requires a powerful tool — every 2025 Ram 2500 we sell allows the potential of 1075 lb.-ft. of torque in every gear, for a 70 percent increase in torque delivery from the previous generation 2500.”
A new electronic column shifter and TorqueFlite HD eight-speed automatic transmission are standard equipment on both engines.
The Ram Heavy Duty engine control system recognizes if the truck is loaded or unloaded and the new TorqueFlite transmission allows for smooth second-gear starts when unladen.
For 2025, the Ram Heavy Duty lineup includes Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Limited Longhorn, and Limited models.
Ram officials say the entire lineup will offer customers benchmark gas, turbo diesel, and electric vehicles that “get the hard work done and families where they need to go.”
The new Ram Heavy Duty pickups feature updated grilles with a unique design, depending on the selected trim level. New premium LED headlamps, including twin bi-functional projectors, are available, while LEDs now are standard.
The lockable bed storage continues to be available with RamBox, featuring a 115-volt outlet. The RamBox cargo management system includes versatile, weatherproof, lockable, illuminated, and drainable storage bins built into the bed rails. Available with RamBox is a pickup bed divider and cargo rail system with four sliding, adjustable cleats.
Other exterior design updates include new wheels catering to a wide variety of buyers and available in unique interpretations as dictated by the model. New incandescent taillamps are standard while a premium version with LEDs with Blind-spot Monitoring is available on select models.
The new 2025 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty trucks feature the most advanced Uconnect system available, with an improved 12-inch or new 14.5-inch touchscreen display and intuitive user experience. The Uconnect 5 system offers even more connected services and features for unmatched ease of use, according to Ram.
Pricing for the vehicles, which are built in Saltillo, Mexico and arrive in dealerships this quarter, starts at $47,560 for the 2500 Heavy Duty and $48,565 for the 3500 Heavy Duty.
The 2025 4500 and 5500 Chassis Cabs also feature the new 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel engine and the standard 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine. They also share interior features with the 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty models.
“The Ram Chassis Cab line represents our hardest working trucks — designed and engineered to run at maximum capability all day, every day,” says Kuniskis. “In this segment, durability, low cost of ownership and innovative upfitter solutions are top of mind for our customers and our engineering and planning teams.”
Chassis Cab trucks are sold without a conventional pickup bed but include a third-party manufactured and installed vocation-specific upfit prior to customer delivery. Customers can benefit from Ram’s relationships with body manufacturers and upfitters.
Among the trucks’ features are:
- Industry standard cab-to-axle lengths of 60, 84, 108, and 120 inches.
- No components or lines above the rear frame rails.
- Through-the-frame plumbing and electrical.
- Diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank refill port located at the rear of the cab on the driver’s side.
- A vehicle system interface module (VSIM) can communicate between aftermarket modules and various factory control modules. The VSIM features more than 70 inputs and outputs, including lighting controls, door position, and throttle and transmission position.
To improve the upfit process, Ram created a digital rearview mirror (DRVM) relocation kit featuring connection points for adding a camera that replaces the DRVM camera that could be blocked by an upfit. The new 2025 Ram Chassis Cab also features a standard upfitter electrical connector and an integrated cab configuration for easy upfitter/conversion solutions.
Pricing for the Ram 3500 Chassis Cab starts at $49,285, 4500 Chassis Cab $55,660, and 5500 Chassis Cab $56,770.
