The Ram brand of Auburn Hills’ Stellantis announced today a new Backcountry Edition of the 2022 Ram 1500 Big Horn and Lone Star Lineup featuring standard off-road shocks, all-terrain tires, skid plates, electronic rear differential, and hill-descent control.

“We’re constantly expanding and exploring new ideas to meet the needs and fuel the imagination of our passionate customers while offering the segment’s best combination of performance, capability and technology,” says Mike Koval Jr., Ram brand CEO – Stellantis. “Ram 1500 BackCountry will resonate positively with customers who live an active lifestyle and this is the latest example of how Ram trucks deliver features and durability that will continue to win over more and more buyers.”

The 2022 Ram 1500 BackCountry Edition features 18-inch black wheels, black two-tone exterior paint, black badging, exhaust tips, headlamp bezels, mirrors and running boards. A body-color grille surround and tonneau cover also are included and help set BackCountry up from the rest of the light-duty lineup.

The truck will be available in 4×4 quad cab and 4×4 crew cab configurations, with both the 5.7-liter V-8 and 5.7-let V-8 with e-torque mild-hybrid assist as options. The starting price for the vehicle is $40,085.

This comes after the brand announced it would be expanding its light-duty lineup with the additions of the 2022 Ram 1500 Laramie G/T and the Ram 1500 Rebel G/T models.

“Ram has a strong history of performance trucks and the Laramie G/T and Rebel G/T models add to that while expanding the light-duty lineup with the segment’s best combination of performance, capability, luxury and technology,” says Koval Jr. “Ram 1500 G/T buyers will enjoy this combination of performance and luxury that the newest additions to our versatile lineup offer.”

Ram 1500 G/T models feature a sport performance hood and G/T decals to distinguish them from the rest of the Rebel and Laramie offerings. A factory-installed cold-end exhaust and cold-air intake, available through Mopar, are also standard.

Performance pages are included on the 2022 Ram 1500 G/T as standard equipment and give drivers the tools necessary to become familiar with their vehicle’s performance. The app provides access to real-time vehicle performance information, including timers (such as 0-60 mph elapsed time), g-force, gauges, and engine performance. This data can be downloaded to a USB stick, allowing for easy sharing of driving performance.

The 2022 Ram 1500 Laramie G/T and Rebel G/T are available in a crew cab configuration with the 5.7-liter V-8 with e-torque mild-hybrid assist. The Laramie G/T starts at $55,480 and the Rebel G/T starts at $55,375. Both exclude a $1,695 destination fee.

The 2022 Ram 1500 Laramie G/T, Rebel G/T, Big Horn BackCountry, and Lone Star BackCountry go on sale in the third quarter of 2021.
