Grand Rapids-based Priority Health, the second largest health plan in Michigan, today announced it is transforming its wellness programs to address the overall wellbeing of members with a new product, PriorityWell.

The new offering goes beyond traditional wellness programs to offer solutions to support all aspects of wellbeing such as social, financial, environmental, and emotional health.

With PriorityWell, employers will be able to take a new approach to supporting the overall wellbeing of their employees and improve engagement, satisfaction, and productivity, ultimately resulting in improved talent retention and a healthier workforce.

“At Priority Health, we see the ability to deliver personalized wellbeing programs as the evolution of health care and a real solution for the overall health care costs impacting an employer’s bottom line,” says Miki Kobane, wellness director for Priority Health. “With PriorityWell, we are partnering with employers to help them deliver targeted, smart programs that effectively improve employee physical and emotional health while also improving workplace morale and reducing overall health care costs.”

Employees with poor health are twice as likely to be disengaged with their work and 43 percent more likely to experience stress and anxiety, according to Health Payer Intelligence. Additionally, unhappy workers cost the U.S. between $450 billion and $550 billion in lost productivity each year, according to a 2013 report on the state of the U.S. workplace conducted by research and polling company Gallup.

“Today, employers recognize the total value on investment of wellbeing — going beyond evaluating the financial return — but also taking into consideration employee satisfaction, retention rates, culture survey scores, decreased sick days, and much more,” adds Kobane. “At Priority Health, we are taking it one step further to measure the value of individual. Our PriorityWell packages provide a personalized wellbeing experience, helping each member achieve their own personal goals while creating a healthier, more productive place to work.”

PriorityWell is offered in three scalable packages to work alongside a Priority Health medical plan to provide an integrated experience with measurable results. The packages start with a personalized web experience, promotional materials, educational classes, a health risk assessment, and reporting.

Additional packages also offer services such as a cultural assessment, an employee interest survey, a three-year wellbeing roadmap, web-based challenges, and custom reporting. All packages have the option to add additional features depending on the greatest employee needs like smoking cessation programs, incentive management programs, health coaching, onsite clinics, and screenings and onsite support. Priority Health is offering PriorityWell to employer groups with 30 wellness eligible members or more.

In addition to PriorityWell, Priority Health also launched a Wellbeing Hub, the only digital wellbeing solution of its kind offered in Michigan, to offer a personalized online wellness experience tailored to each employee’s individual needs. The Wellbeing Hub, available to all Priority Health members, offers members access to content and tools centered on supporting stress management, nutrition, weight loss, quitting tobacco, chronic condition management, financial support, sleep health, and more.

Priority Health offers a portfolio of health benefit options for employer groups and individuals, including Medicare and Medicaid plans. The health plan has close to 800,000 members across Michigan and 1,200 employees.
