R.L. Polk & Co., the automotive market intelligence firm, is launching an online application that combines several of the Southfield-based company’s products into one database for companies in the commercial and light vehicle aftermarket to better understand globalization of the parts supply chain.

“Global aftermarket needs are changing, and with the changes come significant business opportunities for all areas of the aftermarket,” says Mark Seng, vice president of Polk’s global aftermarket practice.

Available next month, Seng says Polk’s WorldView app will integrate vehicle population figures for 50 markets around the world to enable business planners to analyze global part demand and support key decisions related to cataloging, inventory planning, and part production.

“By utilizing Polk’s WorldView to understand which vehicles are likely to utilize the same parts around the world, aftermarket companies can save a great deal of vehicle analysis time and focus their efforts on researching components which may be the same in various markets around the globe,” Seng says.

The company will highlight Polk’s WorldView at the upcoming EquipAuto exhibition this week in Paris and also at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo in Las Vegas on Nov. 5-7.
