Troy’s Plex Systems, a company specializing in cloud manufacturing execution system and enterprise resource planning for manufacturing, today named Bill Berutti CEO and a member of its board of directors.

Berutti has spent the last two decades in cloud and enterprise software. He will be based in Boston.

“The future of manufacturing ERP and MES is in the cloud, and Plex’s position at the intersection of technology innovation and manufacturing presents an enormous opportunity for growth,” says Petri Oksanen, a partner at Francisco Partners and lead board director at Plex Systems. “Bill’s deep enterprise software and cloud experience and manufacturing roots make him the ideal leader for Plex, and he is the right person to lead Plex in the next stage of its growth. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the team.”

Berutti was previously president of cloud and enterprise solutions at multi-cloud management software firm BMC Software in Texas. There, he oversaw the company’s division with revenues of more than $1 billion. Before that, Berutti spent 17 years at PTC in Massachusetts as its executive vice president and general manager of service lifecycle management. He was responsible for the company’s fastest-growing business unit.

“Plex is trusted by hundreds of modern manufacturers managing thousands of facilities around the world,” says Berutti. “I’m thrilled to join a strong team delivering a market-leading product in the cloud and look forward to helping manufacturers connect their businesses and fully take advantage of the opportunities created by Industry 4.0.”

Berutti is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Finance for Senior Executives program and earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Miami University. He is a board member of aPriori, a product cost software company in Massachusetts, and Park Place Technologies, a data center hardware maintenance company in Ohio.

Plex serves more than 600 companies.
