Outpost, a nationwide network of semi-truck parking yards based in Austin, Texas and Seattle, Wash., is adding a Detroit location to its portfolio.

Detroit was selected due to its proximity to the Canadian market and its critical location to the U.S. supply chain.

The Detroit yard, located at 18718 Borman St. (southwest convergence of I-96 and the Southfield Freeway), spans approximately 38 acres and offers 1,000 parking spaces for large trucks, including 18-wheelers.

“Truck yards and terminals are critical infrastructure for the US supply chain, but their high costs and long-term commitments make them incompatible with shifting freight demand,” says Trent Cameron, co-founder and CEO of Outpost.

“Through our expanding network of outposts, we’re transforming this real estate from a long-term capital cost to a flexible operating expense. We look forward to helping fleets use our three new yards in the Midwest and South as a virtual extension of their terminal network.”

In addition to Detroit, Outpost is opening yards in Memphis, Tenn. and San Antonio, Texas. Memphis will act as a link for freight movement across the country while San Antonio provides a gateway for trade with Mexico.

Outpost has 21 locations across the country with more than 10,000 spaces. It helps asset carriers, private fleets, and owner-operators use truck parking as a flexible part of their transportation infrastructure without the need for major capital investments.

The network provides trucking fleets with secure locations for their drivers and cargo, consistent billing, and visibility into their assets and reservations.
