One Stop Fitness: Life Time Athletic to Open in Bloomfield Township

Michigan’s first Life Time Athletic facility will open in Bloomfield Township in late spring. The 73,000-square-foot club will be a one-stop location for group fitness, cycling, Pilates, yoga, swimming, and spa services.

“We’re seeing all of these smaller boutiques pop up in so many places — so you’ve got a small spin boutique, a small yoga boutique, a small Barre fitness boutique, and so on,” says spokeswoman Natalie Bushaw. “When you come into Life Time, you can do it all.”

Beth Bock, general manager of Life Time Athletic, says “the (staff) to member ratio is much higher and luxury amenities include a dry sauna, eucalyptus steam, and hot tub in each dressing room. Membership at the diamond-level facility includes access to all Life Time Athletic facilities around the country (along with Life Time Fitness locations).

Bock says the Bloomfield Township facility will also offer LifeSpa, a full-service, day spa with massage and relaxation therapy, and a range of body, hair, nail, and skin care services. The on-site LifeCafe will feature an all-natural menu with organic, preservative- and cage-free offerings.

“One thing that’s exciting about the cafe is we use wild caught fish,” Bock says. “Our beef is grass fed, our chicken is hormone and antibiotic free, and our eggs are cage-free. We also create our own sauces and our own dressings.”

The complex will offer the Life Time Kids Academy for children from 3 months to 11 years, Bock says. Children aged 3 and up can participate in three hours of classes that range from yoga to foreign language.

A preview center, at 4036 Telegraph Rd. in Bloomfield Township, is now open. Exclusive membership opportunities will be available for a limited time.
