Stressed-out Detroiters will soon be able to request a massage at their own homes with as little as 60 minutes of notice thanks to on-demand massage service Soothe, which will be coming to Detroit and 50 other cities on Jan. 12, 2017.

Founded in Los Angeles in 2013, Soothe offers deep tissue, Swedish, sports, and prenatal massages daily between the hours of 8 a.m. and midnight. Massages are performed by licensed massage therapists who are vetted and certified by the company, and dispatched to clients’ homes, hotels, or offices once they request a service through the Soothe application via smartphone or the website.

Clients select the type of massage, duration, and their therapist’s gender when they book the appointment. Massages are fixed-price per person and Soothe covers tax and gratuity as part of their commitment to maintaining quality standards for their clients and employees.

Soothe’s founder and CEO Merlin Kauffman created the service after he had difficulty scheduling massages while traveling, and the solution has grown to a network of over 8,000 massage therapists globally.

“Everyone deserves to have a massage after a long day at the office or while on vacation, either as a gift to oneself or another,” Kauffman says.  “They provide spa-quality treatments without the hassle of finding parking or dealing with traffic. In addition, our massage therapists earn three to four times more than the industry standard. Soothe is extremely proud to provide flexible work opportunities for therapists.”
