Value Wholesale Distributors, a national brand grocery supplier based in Oak Park, has acquired Hispanic and Middle Eastern food specialist Liberty Wholesale in Warren for an undisclosed amount.
The addition of Liberty Wholesale — which, according to Value Wholesale President Matthew Louissa, has been “in the works for a year and a half” — doubles Value Wholesale’s employee count and adds approximately 4,500 items to its product portfolio.
“It’s a natural fit,” says Loussia. “We currently supply grocery stores throughout the country, and now we’ll be able to supply a larger variety of products, including two additional categories of Hispanic and Middle Eastern.”
Loussia says Value Wholesale will begin fulfilling orders for Liberty Wholesale in November.
Value Wholesale also is finishing up a 50,000-square-foot addition to its existing 110,000-square-foot warehouse. The addition, itself a two-year project, allows for distribution growth and the added product selection that comes with the acquisition.
