O2 Investment Partners, a private equity firm in Bloomfield Hills, today announced the final closing of the O2 Investment Partners Fund III with $270 million in capital commitments.

Founded in 2010, O2 Investment Partners plans to use the funds to enhance and expand its portfolio of growth-oriented, privately held businesses in the North American lower middle market.

The firm partners with the entrepreneurial management teams of family- and founder-owned businesses that O2 believes are well-positioned for long-term growth.

The portfolio consists of more than a dozen companies, including Silbond, a specialty chemical company and the world’s leading commercial producer and provider of tetra ethyl ortho silicate, and Packaging Concepts and Design, a leader in the design and delivery of highly engineered packaging solutions.

Other portfolio firms include Greco Aluminum Railings, a leading manufacturer of welded aluminum balcony railing systems; Vessco, a leading supplier of water and wastewater technology to municipal and industrial markets; and First Class Air Holdings, which distributes aftermarket aircraft components and performs FAA certified maintenance, repair, and overhaul work with a focus on cargo and structural airframe systems.

For the closing of O2 Investment Partners Fund III, Metric Point Capital served as the exclusive placement agent for the fundraise. Kirkland & Ellis provided legal counsel.

“We appreciate the confidence that our investors continue to place in our team and strategy in light of the challenges that the world is currently facing, and we are also grateful for the ongoing support of the talented entrepreneurs and management teams who choose to partner with us,” says Todd Fink, managing partner of O2.

“In our view, the timing of Fund III is excellent as we continue to see significant deal flow. Fund III just closed its third platform investment and has a strong pipeline of new opportunities.”

James Weidner, Partner at Metric Point, states: “The O2 team plays an important role in the lower middle market, partnering with entrepreneurs and management teams to help execute their strategic visions and continued growth plans. We are pleased to have assisted O2 in achieving its fundraising goals as the firm welcomed a diverse group of investors to the fund.”

O2 seeks to acquire controlling interests in lower middle market business-to-business services, technology, and select niche industrial companies. The firm seeks to invest in businesses with earnings growth potential and a clear path to the creation of shareholder value.
