The Fifth Third Michigan State Fair is expanding this year, adding more than 40 acres at its site in Novi, along with an equestrian show, more rides, an expanded circus performance, and more interior room for livestock breeds, shows, and exhibits.

“We have acquired 43 additional acres since the inaugural fair in 2013 to keep up with the growth of the fair and to make sure that we have room for additional features and parking,” says Blair Bowman, proprietor of the Suburban Collection Showplace.

Bowman says the Fifth Third Michigan State Fair has grown by more than 80 percent since the being moved to the Novi location in 2013 from its longtime site on Woodward Avenue in Detroit. The fair had shut down in 2009. Expansion plans for the fair, held over Labor Day weekend, include two additional outdoor equine arenas for equestrian competitions.

Ram Trucks and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles U.S. will offer an on site, off-road test-drive experience, in either a Ram 1500, 2500, or 3500, through an obstacle course. The Blue Care Network of Michigan also joins the fair as the sponsor of the community and cultural stage, which features songs, dancing, and storytelling.

The Fifth Third Michigan State Fair will be held at the Suburban Collection Showplace, 46100 Grand River Ave., Sept. 4-7. For more information, visit MichiganStateFairLLC.com.
