TEDxDetroit, a nonprofit that hosts conferences centered on short, live presentations from a broad spectrum of business and nonprofit leaders, will host its next event Oct. 8 at the Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit.

"This is the seventh TEDxDetroit, and we are excited to make the experience different each year for attendees by bringing together an eclectic and unique array of speakers to share their wit, wisdom, passion, and breakthrough ideas,” says Charlie Wollborg, curator of TEDxDetroit and founding partner of Curve Detroit Advertising.

Wollborg says he expects 4,000 local entrepreneurs, musicians, scientists, and educators, among others will participate in the popular event. The call for speakers and attendees is open. Potential attendees can submit their ideas to a selection committee, while attendees may request an invitation to the event on TEDxDetroit.com.

Past speakers include Jim Murphy, head of animation for Pixar Animation Studios; Andy Didorosi, founder and president of The Detroit Bus Co.; Dan Gilbert, founder and chairman of Quicken Loans Inc. and Rock Ventures; and the indie-pop band Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., among other speakers.

The deadline for speaker submissions is Aug. 8. Early bird attendee tickets are $75 until Aug. 8.
