Lightning Technologies, an Oxford-based shipping pallet supplier, has received an unspecified investment from Bravia Capital in New York to aid in the company’s plans to expand.

“Durability, weight, and technology are three critical components in supply chain logistics that Lightning Technologies has focused on to make it an instant market innovator and leader,” says Bharat Bhise, founder and CEO and of Bravia Capital. “As a long-time investor in the global cargo and logistics space, I believe this new technology is a game changer for the Logistics Industry.”

Lightning Technologies was formed in 2015 by CEO Jeffrey Owen and has developed what he says is a “virtually indestructible, lightweight, hygienic, and fire-retardant pallet.” Each sustainable wood pallet is coated with a polyurethane polyuria hybrid coating, making it durable, easy to sanitize, anti-bacterial, and antifungal. Each pallet includes an embedded Bluetooth low-energy beacons to track and monitor location, temperature, humidity, and impact. The pallets also are capable of being used toward a certified carbon credit.

In addition, Owen says the lifespan of a Lightning pallet is 10 years compared to the six-month lifecycle of a traditional wood pallet.

“Bharat Bhise brings years of shipping and logistics experience — and this investment will assist us with the aggressive growth plans for our current and future business,” Owen says.
