New Buick App to Help Motorists Track Driving Habits

As the popularity of self-monitoring apps continues to grow, Buick car owners can now track their driving habits to become better drivers using a new app released by the automaker. The app offers users the option to self-monitor key driving habits such as mpg and is available for most 2015 model year or newer Buick vehicles at no additional cost.

“In today’s world, people are using health, finance, and even sleep monitoring apps to help improve their lifestyle and well-being,” says Steve Samolinski, senior manager of Buick Connected Services. “Bringing Buick Smart Driver services into the myBuick app can help our customers become more aware of their driving behaviors and improve as necessary.”

The app allows for drivers to track total number of hard breaking events, total number of hard acceleration events, high-speed driving percentage, late-night driving percentage, total miles driven, average mpg and mph, tips on how to become a smarter driver, and an overall smart driver score. These statistics are available by day, week, or month.

The app is part of the automaker’s Buick Smart Driver, which was launched as a web-based service in May 2016, has more than 211,000 drivers enrolled and averages nearly 700,000 trips daily.

Another feature of the Buick Smart Driver service available to Buick drivers is the Insurance Discounts Eligibility program. With nearly 100,000 Buick drivers already enrolled, it is a risk-free way for drivers to see if their positive driving behaviors qualify them for discounts and does so without releasing any of the driver’s personal details to the insurance companies.
