Top Trumps USA, the American division of game company Winning Moves International, is seeking established Detroit businesses and nonprofits to be part of the upcoming Monopoly: Detroit edition, set to debut in the winter of 2024.
The game will be made under license from toy company Hasbro. Monopoly: Detroit Edition will replace the board game’s Atlantic City squares with Detroit businesses, nonprofits, and landmarks.
The special edition Monopoly board will include customized Community Chest and Chance playing cards, as well as Monopoly money, with the goal of homage to the Detroit community, says Tim Barney, a spokesperson for Top Trumps.
“Detroit is such a unique community with a rich history,” says Barney. “We aim to ensure that Monopolgy: Detroit Edition accurately portrays what Detroit locals and tourists love about this charming city.”
To capture the most essential elements of Detroit, Top Trumps is seeking recommendations from the public about which locations should be featured as squares on the board.
