Minnesota-based Zeiss Industrial Metrology has opened a new Car Body and Automation Center in Wixom.

The new facility, located at 47815 West Rd., will focus on the latest developments for the process chain in car body metrology and automated inspection.

The company’s industrial metrology products include measuring, evaluation, and management software; contact and optical sensors, as well as fixturing, style and accessories, and system-specific options.

“This center helps us illustrate how to make production more efficient in-line, in the measuring room, and in-between,” says Bob Wasilesky, key account manager for automated inspection at Zeiss Industrial Metrology. “This means production and quality can find solutions to problems anytime, from anywhere in the manufacturing facility.”

He says the facility also operates as a “one-stop-shop” for customers to come in and see the full range of its automated inspection solutions. Zeiss engineers at the new facility are available to show the benefits of the company’s technologies, provide consulting, custom programming, and specialized training.

The company has provided automotive metrology solutions to Pankl Racing Systems General Motors Co., Volkswagen, Bosch, and IAC.

Zeiss Industrial Metrology is part of the Zeiss Group, which operates more than 30 manufacturing sites, over 50 sales and service locations, and about 25 research and development centers.
