Naf Naf Grill, a Naperville, Ill.-based fast casual Middle Eastern chain, will open its first Michigan location on Nov. 17 in Troy. Other locations are planned for Sterling Heights, Southfield, and West Bloomfield Township.

Located at 624 W. Big Beaver Rd (just west of I-75), the Troy restaurant will be inside the Galleria of Troy and offer customizable Middle Eastern dishes.

Customers can start by selecting a pita or a bowl of basmati rice, romaine lettuce, hummus, and couscous. Next is the selection of protein, which consists of chicken, steak, shawarma, or falafel. Customers then have the option of adding chopped or purple cabbage salad, sumac onions, and pickles before finishing off the dish with garlic, amba, tahini, harissa, or s’khug sauces. Fries, lentil soup, or basmati rice are side dish options.

“We hand-picked Troy as our first Michigan location because we fell in love with the thriving city that feels so similar to our first location in Naperville, (Ill.),” says David Sloan, co-CEO of Naf Naf Grill. “Our concept started with great food, and we built a business around that from the very beginning.”

The Troy location will hold a capacity of 53 seats and is expected to create 25 new jobs.

Naf Naf Grill plans to open in Sterling Heights in December, while the Southfield and West Bloomfield Township locations will open next year. Michigan is the sixth state with Naf Naf locations.

To celebrate the grand opening of the Troy location, Naf Naf Grill will host an event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 17, offering free pita sandwiches, fries, and drinks.

Naf Naf Grill was founded in 2009. Currently operating 23 locations, the company has plans to expand in downtown Chicago, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
