The Michigan Venture Capital Association (MVCA) today released the 2017 Michigan Entrepreneurial and Investment Landscape Guide, the state’s comprehensive compilation of angel organizations, venture capital firms, entrepreneurial support organizations, and service providers active in growing Michigan’s business and investment communities.
Additionally, MVCA features an interactive landscape map on its website that allows users to navigate the report’s resources by geographic location, industry sector, and organization type.
Over the past year, MVCA collected data from venture firms, angel groups, entrepreneurial support organizations, and service providers throughout the entire state. The 2017 Landscape Guide includes profiles on 152 funding and support organizations that serve Michigan’s entrepreneurs.
The report notes there are 2,476 professionals working at 152 venture capital organizations throughout Michigan, including 56 high-tech angel and venture capital investment organizations as well as 96 entrepreneurial support organizations, including pre-seed information technology startups. The most common area of focus for Michigan investors is early-stage information technology.
“The 2017 Michigan Entrepreneurial and Investment Landscape Guide and the online Landscape Map are fundamental resources for high-tech entrepreneurs who want to launch and grow a business in Michigan and for investors who want to make meaningful connections,” says Maureen Miller Brosnan, MVCA’s executive director. “These tools are designed to connect people with the capital, community, talent, and research necessary to build a strong entrepreneurial and investment community in Michigan.”
Additionally, MVCA will begin a multi-city outreach tour starting in Grand Rapids tomorrow and heading to Boston and Chicago to further connect and educate national partners about entrepreneurial opportunities throughout Michigan. A full version of the report can be found here.
