More than 250 private equity, investment banking, and business professionals from around the United States are expected to attend the 11th annual Michigan Private Equity Conference, to be held later this month in Ann Arbor. The conference will cover topics in the global credit markets that pose challenges and opportunities for those in private equity and institutional investing.
The conversation at this year’s conference, to be held Sept. 29-30 at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, located at 701 Tappan Ave., will revolve around the effect the United Kingdom’s decision to leave the European Union has had on the global market.
“Britain’s exit from the E.U. has contributed to global uncertainty and opened up unprecedented investment opportunities for U.S. investors,” says David J. Brophy, director of the Center for Venture Capital and Private Equity Finance. “The Private Equity Conference will give some of the leading minds in the industry a forum to discuss (issues) and look ahead to where private equity is heading next.”
The main program of the event, held on Sept. 30, will feature a keynote presentation by Bradley Cooper, managing partner at Capital Z Partners, and a fireside chat with Arn Tellem, vice chairman of Palace Sports and Entertainment. Tellem will discuss negotiating and how NBA owners are applying a mergers and acquisitions model to the management of professional basketball teams. Warde Manuel, director of athletics at the University of Michigan, will deliver the final keynote.
Two panel discussions on the global market and deal-winning strategies for private equity firms will also take place and feature representatives from Rockbridge Growth Equity, Greenwich Capital Group, UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Trust, W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Huron Capital Partners, and more.
Pre-conference events on Sept. 29 will kick off with a golf outing at the U-M Golf Course, followed by a networking and cocktail reception at Crisler Arena, which is home to the university’s basketball teams, and a tailgate-themed dinner.
Online registration for Michigan Private Equity Conference is open through Sept. 27.
