Meta Physica Wellness Center today announced it will open on Tuesday at 1701 Trumbull Ave., Suite 3 in Detroit’s Corktown district. The wellness center offers an array of spa services, including massages, saunas, acupuncture, and more.
Co-owners Jenaveve Biernat and Anahi Hollis competed against 150 other applicants in the 2016 Comerica Hatch Detroit Contest before taking home the $50,000 grand prize from Comerica Bank in Detroit to help open Meta Physica. Hollis was Biernat’s client, which is where their partnership and visions of creating a wellness center in Detroit began.
“We wanted to create a space in Detroit that was solely dedicated to improving the health and wellness of people,” Hollis says.
“At Meta Physica Wellness we provide a place to focus on self-care using a holistic approach with massages, saunas, and raw juices that can enhance overall healing and balance both mind and body,” Biernat adds.
Meta Physica’s services include massages for couples, deep tissue, prenatal and more; full-spectrum infrared saunas with different programs tailored to clients’ needs, such as detoxification, weight loss and pain relief; and community acupuncture, which provides a more affordable option for people seeking treatment.
Massages are priced starting at $70 for a 60-minute massage with the option to add a 30-minute sauna session for $10. Saunas range from $20 for first time guests to $30 a session per person. A one hour sauna session includes a robe, slippers, towels, aromatherapy, chromotherapy and a private shower.
Meta Physica also plans to introduce health and wellness-focused community workshops with monthly topics like meditation, therapy, and diet.
Meta Physica has seven employees including five massage therapists. Business hours are noon to 9 p.m. on Monday; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
