tHuron Capital Partners in Detroit announced today that its portfolio company Baltimore-based Hughes Associates has merged with Chicago-based RJA Group to form a global professional consulting practice for the fire protection industry.

tCombined, both companies have nearly 80 years of experience and bring together 500 employees and more than $100 million in revenue.

t“Our goal is to establish best practices for every facet of our practice and business,” says Phil Rogers, CEO of the newly combined company. “This will enable us to better serve the current and future needs of our clients regardless of their fire protection engineering or research challenges, or their location across the globe.”

tBoth companies will continue to operate under their existing Hughes and RJA brands, while benefiting from the added resources, team, and complementary expertise of the combined organization, says David Boswell, president of Hughes Associates.

t“In terms of service scope, Hughes has strengths in areas such as research, testing, forensic engineering, and power/energy risk analysis to complement RJA’s code consulting, performance-based design, construction management, and security expertise,” Boswell says.

tNick Parker, a partner at Huron Capital, says his firm will benefit from the future growth opportunities from the merger. “Both companies have tremendous capabilities and complementary strengths that will bring new resources to clients and new potential for growth, and we look forward to continuing our momentum,” he says.
