Menagerie Kitchen Offers Classes on How to Start a Food Truck

Mobile Cuisine, an online resource for foodies, is teaming up with Menagerie Kitchen in Pontiac to offer classes on how to start and operate a food truck business.

"The idea came to me while I was researching how to start a hot dog cart business," says Richard Myrick, a Farmington Hills-based businessman and the host of the event. "Industry information was scattered all over the place or just plain not available, and I realized I couldn't be the only person around with an interest in this subject."

Myrick says the classes will offer students a broad look at the food truck industry, information on how to determine if starting a food truck is for them, and the aspects of starting and operating a food truck.  Special guests and industry professionals will contribute to the discussion.

The introductory course will address misconceptions about the food truck industry, what it takes to run a truck, and information about menu planning, marketing, operations, and building licensing.

Myrick is the author of Running a Food Truck for Dummies and is the editor-in-chief of Mobile-Cuisine.com.

The first class will be held Monday evening. Tickets cost $20.
