In a pilot program, Grand Rapids-based retailer Meijer today announced it has partnered with Marysville, Ohio-based Scotts-MiracleGro, a lawncare and garden brand, to open 27 garden centers in existing stores located in Michigan and the Midwest.
“We know the average homeowner spends four hours a week caring for their lawn and garden, which is why the Garden Marketplace will focus on providing solutions for our customers’ outdoor needs,” says Bill Stechebar, Meijer’s divisional merchandise manager for garden/floral.
The pilot program will offer merchandise for gardening, lawn care, and maintenance in one area of the store. The garden centers will be offered in 11 Meijer stores in Michigan.
The Michigan locations include: Norton Shores, Grand Rapids, Howell, Scio Township, Washington Township, Battle Creek, Portage, Gaines Township, Standale, Lenox Township, and Ionia.
