Taylor-based Masco Corp., a designer and manufacturer of branded building products, today announced details about its relocation to new headquarters in Livonia on the campus of Schoolcraft College. The building is scheduled to open next spring.

“The move to a new facility will provide a more collaborative space and is an important step forward for us,” says Keith Allman, president and CEO of Masco.

The new, 91,000-square-foot building represents a joint venture between Livonia-based real estate company Schostak Brothers & Co. Inc. and Schoolcraft College. The building will be located on the college’s main campus between Six Mile Road and Seven Mile roads, on the west side of I-275.

Michigan Economic Development Corp. is working with Masco on the future reuse of their current 416,000-square-foot headquarters in Taylor. Masco’s R&D center will remain in Taylor.

Masco’s portfolio of brands includes Behr paint, Delta and Hansgrophe faucets, and KraftMaid cabinets, among others.

The company reported sales of $7.1 billion in 2015, and profits of $927 million. Also in 2015, Masco spun-off its installation service business, called TopBuild.

Founded in 1929 by Alex Manoogian, the company today has nearly 32,000 employees. Masco operates more than 20 companies and has nearly 60 manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and 20 in other parts of the world.
