Macomb County businessman Wayne Webber and his wife Joan have donated $4 million to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township. The donation will help fund an expansion of the hospital’s surgical services and the newly created Wayne and Joan Webber Department of Surgery.
A key feature of the two-phase expansion to the hospital, located at 15855 19 Mile Rd., is the addition of a hybrid operating room for cardiovascular surgery. The first-of-its-kind facility in Macomb County, the hybrid operation space will be equipped with medical imaging devices such as CT or MRI scanners.
The funds will also support the redesign of surgical patient and visitor rooms, as well as the expansion of current operating rooms.
“Expansion of the operation space and accompanying services is critical for providing the highest possible care to our patients, while ensure we can continue to recruit, retain, and educate top surgeons in our region,” says Barbara Rossmann, president and CEO of Henry Ford Macomb. “We’ve been fortunate enough to have nation-leading surgeons who have brought (advances) here, but many of these new options require more technology and space.”
The Wayne and Joan Webber Foundation seeks to provide access to quality healthcare, improve K-12 inner city education, nourishment, clothing and shelter for the less fortunate. After more than 40 years in the highway construction industry, Webber sold his company in 2005. Today, he works in real estate development.
