Michigan-based developers M. Shapiro and MJC Cos. today opened Shearwater, a new apartment community located at Maple and Beck Roads in Commerce Township. The $30 million community features planked wood-grain flooring, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, kitchen islands, and in-residence washers and dryers.

Each of the apartments also feature two or three bedrooms, two baths, a two-car garage, and personal outdoor space. MJC principal Michael Chirco says construction of the community was designed to reflect the rising demand of upscale options in apartment communities.

“ShearWater is our response to the growing market of upscale single, couples, and families who are seeking apartments with the scale, premium features, and refined architecture found in luxury homes and condominiums,” he says.

Clubhouse features include a fireside lounge, a gallery kitchen, a business center, a fitness facility, and locker rooms as well as an outdoor pool, a spa, and a fireplace.

“The initial demand our leasing team is experiencing has been unprecedented,” says Mickey Shapiro, principal for M. Shapiro. “But size and location are only part of Shearwater’s allure. We have elevated the design, innovation, and appointments beyond any other apartments in the region.”
