Lovers Only, a new restaurant offering burgers and sandwiches, opens today in Detroit’s Capitol Park neighborhood. This is the second restaurant opened by proprietor Eli Boyer and co-executive chefs Jennifer Jackson and Justin Tootla. The team opened Ferndale’s Voyager in 2017.
“Our aim is to add layers to quick service so that our guests truly feel that they’ve been taken care of when they visit, not only fed,” Boyer says.
The menu includes hamburgers, sandwiches, sides such as hand-cut fries and onion rings, and salads. The burgers are made of 100 percent pasture-raised Michigan beef provided by local butcher Farm Field Table. Each type features its own unique bun or bread. One burger, the Burlington, is served on a brioche bun with dijonnaise, twice-cooked onions, pickle relish, and Wisconsin-style cheddar cheese sauce. The Classic Smash has mayo, mustard, onion, and lettuce on a beef patty. On the sandwich side of the menu, the Fast Eddie offers loose meat, sharp cheddar cheese, a mayonnaise mix, and shredded lettuce, while bologna, white cheddar, egg, mustard and mayo top the Bodega.
The restaurant, located at 34 W. Grand River Ave., also offers draft craft beers. House Punch, one of the restaurant’s draft cocktails, is made with rum, Aperol, Chambord, lemon, honey, and mint.
“Care, craftsmanship, hospitality is at the core of everything we do, and that shines through in every element of this restaurant,” Boyer says.
