Many people predicted the Detroit Lions would defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday at Ford Field, but last Thursday Dr. Jeff Pierce prognosticated the exact score, 31-23, on the Woodward Sports Network’s “Ermanni & Edwards with Maz” livestream.

Pierce is owner and medical director of the Michigan Sports & Spine Center in Livonia. He also doubles as program hosts Ryan Ermanni and Braylon Edwards’ injury insider every Thursday afternoon.

“Braylon pushed me to make a score prediction and I did,” Pierce explains. “No one set it up. It was pretty organic, it just sort of came to me.”

The replay of the prediction has garnered more than 7,600 views on X, formerly known as Twitter, and more than 30,000 on Instagram, as of this morning.

Michigan Sports & Spine Center specializes in a comprehensive treatment program for spine, musculoskeletal, and joint injuries as well as sports and occupational problems.

“We get a lot of people who were in auto accidents, have work injuries, and weekend (sports) warriors,” says Pierce, who has worked with the Detroit Red Wings, the Detroit Pistons, and the Detroit Fury arena football team.

He says his focus for each patient is on providing a comprehensive evaluation, a proper diagnosis, and individualized, non-surgical treatment regimens. Pierce adds he offers an educational approach to injuries and conditions to encourage patients to share responsibility in the healing process. He also teaches prevention techniques to prohibit further injury, empowering patients to control their recovery.

Pierce doesn’t have a score prediction for the Lions’ NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. “I’m going to pull a John Elway and stop while I’m on top,” he says.
