Southfield-based Nexcess.net, a world-wide data center and managed-hosting company, plans to open two new data center facilities in Southfield that will more than double the company’s metro Detroit operations, which operate around the clock.

“Nexcess is well-positioned to create even more high-tech, well-paying jobs, bringing talent from across the nation to live, work, and raise their families here,” says Chris Wells, CEO of Nexcess. “Our new facilities will allow us to keep growing well into the future.”

Wells says the two new, 6,500-square-foot facilities are in the final stages of construction along Melrose Avenue.

Besides Southfield, Nexcess operates data center facilities in Dearborn, along with facilities in San Francisco, Miami, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.

“Nexcess is demonstrating a long-term commitment to Southfield with this expansion, which will double the company’s footprint and put it on track to keep creating good, local jobs in our community,” says Southfield Mayor Kenson Siver.

Nexcess, founded in 2000, offers secure data facilities, 24/7 client care, and hosting solutions. The company has more than doubled its employment in Oakland County in six years.

“Nexcess is part of a rapidly-growing industry, with more opportunity on the horizon, and we strongly believe our business and our hometown should grow together,” Wells says.
