Loc Performance Products Inc. in Plymouth is expanding into the Lansing market after it acquired Demmer Corp., Loc announced today.

Loc’s acquisition of Demmer Corp. operations at 1600 N. Larch St. in Lansing is expected to generate a total capital investment of $96.5 million and create 700 jobs, resulting in a $7 million Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant by the Michigan Strategic Fund.

Approximately 500 of the 700 jobs will be created in the Lansing area, while 200 will be created at Loc’s headquarters. The firm acquired the Demmer site in July 2017.

“Immediate job openings are available for machinists, metal fabrication, welding, assembly, design and quality engineering, quality management, program and supply chain management,” says Lou Burr, CEO of Loc Performance Products. “While pay for those jobs varies, people who take part in Loc’s apprenticeship program can earn about $25 per hour after three years.”

Loc selected Michigan over competing sites in Ohio and Pennsylvania due to the Lansing area’s skilled manufacturing workforce.
