LinkedIn Ranks U-M No. 2 Marketing School; CCS No. 3 Design School

1992

In its first-ever rankings of universities across the United States, LinkedIn has named the University of Michigan the No. 2 marketing school in the country and the College for Creative Studies the No. 3 design school.

“We compiled Linkedin’s University Rankings to help students identify the schools that are successfully launching graduates into desirable jobs in key industries,” says Christina Allen, director of product management at LinkedIn, an online professional network with more than 300 million members in more than 200 countries and territories.

To identify suitable companies for each profession, analysts considered factors such as a company’s ability to retain employees or attract talent from comparable companies. They then considered where relevant graduates — those who obtained their degrees within the past eight years and are working in the given professional field — are working.

Additionally, for each school, LinkedIn found the percentage of these alumni who have secured relevant positions at these top companies, then compared the percentages to come up with the final rankings.

The University of Pennsylvania took the No. 1 spot for marketing, with other top spots going to Harvard University (No. 3), New York University (No. 4), and Cornell University (No. 5). For design, Carnegie Mellon University took No. 1, followed by the School of Visual Arts in New York (No. 2), Art Center College of Design in California (No. 4), and University of Washington (No. 5).
