Novi-based Lineage Logistics, a network of cold storage facilities that handles and processes food, today announced the acquisition of eight temperature-controlled facilities in the Los Angeles area from U.S. Growers Cold Storage.
The acquisition gives Lineage additional capacity to its facilities network in southern Calif. and provides increased access to value-added solutions for customers. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The eight locations acquired from Growers encompass more than 12 million cubic feet of capacity and are accessible from all of the area’s major freeways, rail facilities, and ocean container terminals. The deal also strengthens Lineage’s ability to customize high-impact supply chain solutions for customers by leveraging its expanded southern Calif. facility network to more than 20 locations.
“While we have existing operations and deep experience in southern California, and this acquisition further represents Lineage’s commitment to grow with our customers and optimize their supply chains in a desirable core market,” says Greg Lehmkuhl, president and CEO of Lineage. “Our aim has, and always will be, to consistently provide the space and solutions when and where our customers need it.”
Additionally, Lineage will continue Growers’ existing expansion plans to add more than 25,000 pallet positions over two phases. The initial phase is targeted for completion in May 2018. Lineage has also recently completed acquisitions of cold storage facilities from American Cold Storage in Indiana and Kentucky.
