Dearborn businessman Allie T. Mallad has acquired the legendary Miller’s Bar, vowing to maintain the Michigan Avenue establishment’s old school traditions.

The deal, for which the financial details were not disclosed, came two years after the Miller family put the restaurant up for sale for $4 million, according to published reports.

Mallad is no stranger to the food service business. He has more than 30 years of experience, through his ATM Brands enterprise, with multiple franchise chains including Little Caesars, Applebee’s, Brueggers Bagels, and Golden Corral, among other brands.

“We are privileged and honored to have the opportunity to continue the traditions of Miller’s Bar and the profound impact that Miller’s has had on the community,” Mallad said in a statement. “Everyone can expect the same atmosphere and the same exact traditions that the Miller family created. I will continue that amazing legacy.”

Among the traditions Mallad says he intends to keep include serving hamburgers on wax paper rather than plates and adhering to Miller’s cash-only, honor system of payment. The current Miller’s staff also is being retained.

The only change Mallad will implement — opening on Sundays. The restaurant is located at 23700 Michigan Avenue and is generally open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

In addition, Mallad reportedly acquired the shopping center property on which Miller’s Bar is located.
