Lakeview Hills Golf Resort in Lexington has opened a new Events and Sports Center inside the resort’s main clubhouse, replacing a 16-lane bowling center.
Following a yearlong renovation, the 11,000-square-foot Events and Sports Center features three indoor full size pickleball courts, along with several tabletop games such as shuffleboard, ping pong, foosball, and cornhole. In addition, two new golf simulators are being added.
“We felt with this new Events and Sports Center, we are able to capture more travelers and locals looking for indoor sports activities both in the winter and summer seasons,” says Tom Fabbri, president and CEO of Lakeview Hills, located 22 miles north of Port Huron.
In addition, the resort has introduced a new intimate private dining room named after the late Virginia Fabbri, co-founder of Lakeview Hills. The club had honored Emilio Fabbri, her late husband, two years ago by opening an award-winning Steakhouse Restaurant.
“When the opportunity presented itself with the new Events and Sports Center, it was a no brainer to create something special to honor Virginia, and what a better name than Virginia’s Table 1928, the year she was born, and the year the club was founded.”
In addition to hand painted art by Mike McMath, the room features handmade wine lockers for members to store their favorite wines.
“The idea is to have a special place, a table, where family and friends can meet and enjoy a special meal together in a private setting, just like home, and just like Virginia did with her family and friends,” says Fadi Achour, general manager of Lakeview Hills.
For the opening, Fadi created a special limited wine selection that features iconic wines such as Opus One, Patrimony Black Label, Chateau Haut Brion, and a new Organic Pinot Noir by Bonterra.
The menu includes wagyu steak tartar, New Zealand lamb chops, lobster salad, gem apple salad, center cut filet mignon, venison filet, miso marinade sea bass, cauliflower forest (vegan), and for dessert — eclairs, cream puffs, macaroons, and seasonal fruits and berries.
“We are so lucky to be able to reach out to local Amish craftsman Eli (last name not provided) to have the dining table and the wine cabinets all constructed by hand at his home,” says Rick and Dennis Fabbri, co-owners of Lakeview Hills.
The handmade table can seat up to 24 guests with special menu options created by Chef Hai-Ying. Guests also will be able to meet the chef to select their own menu based on taste and diet requirements. The chef requires a 10-day advance notice for menu selections.
“The Events and Sports Center will be available for daily use, but also can be reserved for private functions. We already have booked a wedding, and a few other social events. We can accommodate up to 400 guests,” says Bethany Herrick, assistant general manager and director of sales of Lakeview Hills.
Over the last two years, Lakeview Hills Golf Resort has undergone a total transformation since Achour joined the club as general manager. Besides the award-winning Emilio’s Prime Steakhouse, winner of Award of Excellence by Wine Spectator and the prestigious DiRONA award as a best restaurant in North America, the club added a new spa, a wedding chapel, and an enclosed pavilion overlooking the South Golf Course.
A grand staircase that overlooks the pavilion, and a new large vegetable garden, were added, as well. Since these changes, wedding bookings have increased more than 500 percent, according to Herrick.
The new Events and Sports Center, along the Virginia’s Table 1928, is located on the main club level and has its own private entrance.
