Bonchon, an international franchisor known for its crispy, hand-brushed Korean fried chicken, is expanding in metro Detroit with a new location at 738 E Big Beaver and Rochester Road in Troy.
Eunju Jeong, a current Bonchon franchisee, opened the location on Oct. 12. A grand opening is set for Oct. 31. Bonchon also has a location at 27915 Orchard Lake Road in Farmington Hills.
“I’m eager to grow with such a globally loved brand with this new location and I am certain we will quickly become a regular spot for the Troy community to enjoy great food with family and friends” says Jeong. “We’re ready to have the people experience some of the best fried chicken they’ve ever had.”
Menu items include Korean fried chicken wings, drumsticks, and strips, along with Pan Asian favorites including japchae, kimchi, Korean tacos, and potstickers. Other offerings include shrimp shumai, Takoyaki, pork buns, sliders, edamame, buldak, house fried rice, bibimbap, and udon noddle soup.
Launched in Busan, South Korea, in 2002, Bonchon was established in the United States in 2006. The company currently has more than 390 restaurants across eight countries, including Thailand, Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, Myanmar, Australia, U.S, and Vietnam. In the U.S., the company has 120 locations.
For the grand opening on Oct. 31, the first 50 guests in line will receive five free wings. Hours of operation are Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
