Dawn Foods, a global bakery manufacturer and ingredients supplier headquartered in Jackson, announced today it has acquired Icopa, the largest distributor of bakery products in Portugal. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition includes Icopa’s three distribution centers, one of which is located directly next to Dawn’s ingredient manufacturing plant in Palmela. The deal will expand the company’s presence in Portugal and its distribution capabilities in Europe.
“Dawn is committed to providing the best experience for our customers, and the addition of Icopa’s distribution capabilities, team members, and partnerships enables us to better serve and meet the needs of bakery customers in this region,” says Carrie Jones-Barber, CEO of Dawn Foods. “I look forward to working together to continue to provide our customers with the best partnership, products, and bakery expertise in the industry.”
Dawn’s ingredients combined with Icopa’s portfolio of bakery products, including packaging, utensils, and decorating supplies will ensure bakeries have access to all the products and supplies they need to help grow their business all in one place.
“Dawn and Icopa have enjoyed a successful partnership for many years, and we are excited to combine our high-quality products and Icopa’s distribution capabilities to provide total solutions our customers will enjoy,” says Lluís Borrell, Mediterranean cluster director at Dawn Foods.
The announcement marks Dawn Foods’ second acquisition this year, after it acquired JABEX, a Poland-based fruit product manufacturer in April.
Dawn Foods is a leader in bakery manufacturing and ingredients distribution and employs more than 4,000 people globally and provides its products to more than 50,000 customers across 100 countries.
