The Italian restaurant Strada, which features handmade pastas and Neapolitan pizzas cooked in a wood-burning oven, has opened in downtown Royal Oak.

“(Strada’s menu is) very approachable with classic flavors and ingredients done well,” says Rachel Spaccarotelli, executive chef of Strada.

Spaccarotelli says Strada, located on the main floor of North Main Lofts at 366 N. Main St. (just north of 11 Mile), features a variety of 10-inch Neapolitan pizzas, and include such offerings as lamb, feta, and, red onion or mozzarella, squash, and kale.

Pasta options include lasagna and ravioli. The restaurant also offers shared plates, salads, charcuterie, and entrees such as short ribs and lamb chops. The bar includes craft cocktails, along with a variety of wine and beer.

Strada, which was launched as an expansion of neighboring restaurant, Hamlin Corner, has a white marble bar, rotating tables, a mezzanine level, and an original chandelier from the Book Cadillac Hotel in Detroit (opened in 1924).

The restaurant will hold a grand opening celebration on Jan. 6 featuring free tastings and a cash bar.

Strada, Italian for “street,” is part of the TYJ Hospitality group, which includes Hamlin Corner, Pronto! in Royal Oak, and Primo’s Pizza in Birmingham and Royal Oak.
