Independent Sector to Host Our Common Future Convention in Detroit Oct. 25-27

Independent Sector, the Michigan Nonprofit Association, and the Council of Michigan Foundations will host more than 1,000 people at the Our Common Future convention at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center from Oct. 25-27.

More than 140 speakers are part of the conference, including Mo Rocca of CBS Sunday Morning, La June Montgomery Tabron from the W.K. Kellog Foundation, Rosanne Haggerty of Community Solutions, Krista Tippett, host of On Being, Darren Walker of The Ford Foundation, Jim Wallis of Sojourners, and Sarah Eagle Hear of Native Americans in Philanthropy.

The convention will begin with Our Common Future 101, as well as presentations on philanthropy and secular organizations engaging faith communities, the rise of political activism and engaging stakeholders, improving social outcomes through an experience market place, racial equity, and more.

Independent Sector is the leadership forum for nonprofits, foundations, and corporations whose member networks collectively represent tens of thousands local, national, and international organizations.

Additionally, incorporated in 1990, the Michigan Nonprofit Association is dedicated to serving the nonprofit sector through advocacy, training, and resources.
