The Huntington National Bank, the wholly owned banking subsidiary of Huntington Bancshares Inc., has named Michael Land as the incoming regional president for its Southeast Michigan region. Land joined Huntington in 2011 and currently serves as the business banking area manager.

“We are thrilled to have Mike lead our Southeast Michigan region. His extensive banking experience and track-record for growing talented teams makes him a great choice to take this market to the next level,” says Sandy Pierce, chair of Michigan at The Huntington National Bank.
“Mike’s focus on making people’s lives better, helping businesses thrive, and strengthening the communities we serve helps to reinforce Huntington’s commitment to deepening our presence in this region,”

A native of Michigan, Land has led business banking and middle market teams — providing banking solutions to businesses throughout Michigan for more than a decade. In his new role he will be directly accountable for business segment goals and financial performance of the entire region. He brings more than 30 years of banking experience to this position.

“Mike brings to this role incredible knowledge and deep connections within the Metro Detroit community. Under his leadership, Huntington will deliver our highly differentiated regional banking model and create closer connections between our businesses, our customers, and the southeast Michigan communities,” says Brant Standridge, president of consumer and regional banking at Huntington.

Land earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Michigan State University. In his new position, Land will take on the role previously held by Eric Dietz, who will retire at the end of June. Land will begin to transition into his new role on May 1.

In addition, Land is an active member of the community. He volunteers with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Southeast Michigan, and has previously served on the board of the American Diabetes Association.

Huntington’s Southeast Michigan serves customers through its private banking, mortgage, and small-business lending services. Additionally, Huntington is the top lender, by volume, of Small Business Administration (SBA) 7(a) loans in Michigan, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

“Everything we do is centered on serving our community and customers and providing the best client experience in the industry. It is an honor to lead this incredibly important region, to expand our presence and continue to grow,” says Land.
