Last year, husband and wife Steve and Nicky Darwin decided to leave their careers in finance and nursing, respectively, and open a Hounds Town USA franchise, which will open in Wixom on April 9.
“One of the greatest things about Hounds Town USA is that it does not discriminate against breeds,” says Steve Darwin. “The relationships and partnerships with different municipal and private rescue and shelter groups will also be profound. We’re really excited to be an active part of the community and bring jobs to the area.”
Hounds Town USA is an interactive dog daycare, pet boarding, dog grooming, pet taxi, and retail service. It was founded in 2000 by former NYPD canine handler and commanding officer of the Nassau County Police Department Michael S. Gould.
“We’re thrilled to have the Darwins join the Hounds Town USA pack as we make our entrance into the Wixom area,” says Jackie Bondanza, president of the brand. “We are confident Steve and Nicky will be the perfect addition to our system. Our vision for the brand has always been to give every dog in America access to a Hounds Town location, and as we enter new U.S. markets, we are well on our way to achieving that goal.”
The new franchise is located at 29769 Anthony Dr., just off West Road between Beck and Wixom roads. Hounds Town USA expects to grow to more than 50 locations with plans to expand to 30 units before 2023.
