The Godfrey Hotel in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood has opened its full-service restaurant Hamilton’s, a collaboration of Chickpea Hospitality and international real estate and hospitality investment leader Oxford Capital Group.
Hamilton’s has room for 93 guests in its dining room and bar, and 38 guests on its ground floor outdoor terrace at 1401 Michigan Ave. The restaurant’s food and beverage offerings highlight local and seasonal ingredients in keeping with classic American fare along with an extensive beverage program.
“Hamilton’s will be a nice compliment to the Godfrey Detroit’s already popular I|O rooftop venue, and working with Chickpea Hospitality and award-winning restauranteur Samy Eid, elevates the dining experience here even further,” says John Rutledge, founder, chairman, and CEO of Oxford Capital Group and Oxford Hotels & Resorts.
“Hamilton’s will serve a classic and creative breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week and will be a destination for everyone in Corktown, from locals to those visiting for business or pleasure.”
According to Samy Eid, co-owner of Detroit-based Chickpea Hospitality Group, “When we were asked to collaborate with Oxford and the Godfrey team, we wanted to deliver a restaurant that was very approachable and would make people feel very comfortable. We wanted to open a restaurant where people from the community would feel as welcome as the hotel guests.”
Chickpea Hospitality owns and operates Leila Detroit, and Phoenicia and Forest Restaurant in Birmingham. For the design of Hamilton’s interior and menu, the team worked with Groundswell Design Group and Swiss Cottage Designs for its brand identity.
“The working dynamic — from the style and features inside Hamilton’s to our crafted menu — has been an incredible collaboration between Chickpea Hospitality and Oxford,” says Eid.
Menu items include:
- Appetizers such as Burrata with tomato, basil, cucumber and toast; Tuna Tartar with crispy rice and spicy tuna; Hamachi with serrano ponzu; and oysters on the half shell.
- Soups and salads such as Manhattan clam chowder soup; Salmon apple Endive salad; Roast Chicken salad with cauliflower, roasted grapes, and peanuts; Ahi Tuna Salad with green beans, sesame dressing, cherry tomatoes, rustic croutons, and olives.
- Entrees include salmon; fish and chips; Sunday roast for 2; vegan mushroom and lentil spaghetti; filet; hanger steak; and more.
“With the opening of Hamilton’s, the last piece of the puzzle is in place and operations are in full swing,” says Aaron Black, general manager of the Godfrey Hotel. “Since we announced this project, we have been welcomed by the community and are now excited to be opening the final phase of the property.”
Hamilton’s will be open Sunday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The 227-room luxury lifestyle Godfrey Hotel Detroit also features the brand’s indoor-outdoor I|O Rooftop lounge with expansive views of downtown Detroit and Corktown that serves craft cocktails and bites, a 5,100-square-foot ballroom that will accommodate events of more than 300 guests, a hotel lobby bar for guests and locals, and a fitness center.
