Four Man Ladder Management, the team behind Midtown’s Grey Ghost Detroit, today announced it will open a bar located across Watson Street from the restaurant, to be called “Second Best.”

The ownership group says the drinking establishment won’t be the fanciest place in town. The 2,300-square-foot space will offer 60 seats, and the menu will include vintage craft cocktails, snacks, and sandwiches.

Owned and operated by David Vermiglio, Joe Giacomino, John Vermiglio, and Will Lee, Second Best’s menu will feature a fleet of local and imported canned and draft beers, a rotating shot and beer combination, and other classic drinks and shots poured from a soda gun.

Chefs John Vermiglio and Joe Giacomino will also curate a menu featuring drink friendly snacks and sandwiches.

Second Best’s space was desgined by Grey Ghost Detroit design team Pink & Wooderson, and features exposed brick, low lighting, vinyl booths, and a 23-seat bar. The façade will be lined with garage doors and the bar will also feature several flat screen televisions and a recreation area with shuffle board and other pub games.

Construction will begin before year-end, and the bar is slated to open next spring. Second Best will be open from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily, and menu and opening details will be announced in the coming months.
